When I received the item it didn't work only to find out that the included batteries had exploded all over the unit so I sent it back and am now waiting on a cashiers check. So I asked the second unit owner to please check this issue out before cashing the check. A vintage item that's still functional today!
While mine was not new in package, some of the comments here swayed me away from that. I too was fearful it would be damaged but I was pleasantly surprised. It does take SIX batteries and with some effort, you can find the bags that this will work with (hand sealed vacuum bags) here since the name brand food storage product makers are not distributing any themselves. A bit noisy but it does what it should and this being Ebay, it's true that if you need something, Ebay might be your best bet.While mine was not new in package, some of the comments here swayed me away from that. Batteries ALL dead!
The first Reynolds Handi Vac didn't work at all!! I thought the button did not move was the problem. I simply ordered another one. I did NOT work either. So I went out bought a whole set of batteries AND that did the trick. I suppose the other one just NEEDS betteries also. I didn't sent tt back because the SHIPPING cost as much as the Prodoct, If you want to make me whole; send me 10 bucks. The works just fine and the price was right. I love this handi-vac for small jobs. I thought it would be less expensive because I found Zip-Lock vacuum bags locally. Assuming they would have worked properly, it would have been much cheaper than the rolls I buy for my Food Saver. The three bags that come with the Handi-Vac work very well. The Zip-Lock vacuum bags, however, appear to work well, but within minutes, it's easy to see there is air in the bag. A second round of vacuuming doesn't correct the problem. I won't be buying those bags again but there lies the problem. The bags for the Handi-Vac are fairly expensive. I'm not sure I'll be using it much because of the cost of the bags but it does work well and works quickly.I love this handi-vac for small jobs.
